Common questions
How much does tennis racket stringing cost?
$20 if you bring your own string, or $40 flat with string included (synthetic gut, polyester, or multifilament).
How long does it take?
1 to 3 days, including pickup and delivery.
Where do you pick up and deliver?
Free along 101 and 280 between San Francisco and Santa Clara: San Francisco, Daly City, South San Francisco, San Bruno, Millbrae, Burlingame, San Mateo, Belmont, San Carlos, Redwood City, Menlo Park, Palo Alto, Mountain View, Sunnyvale, and Santa Clara. A little off the route? Ask.
How often should I restring?
Rule of thumb: as many times per year as you play per week, and at least once a year even if nothing breaks. Polyester loses tension fastest.
What tension should I ask for?
Most rackets sit between 45 and 60 lbs. Lower is more power and comfort, higher is more control. Not sure? Tell me how you play and I’ll recommend a string and tension.
Which strings do you carry?
Synthetic gut, polyester, and multifilament are included at $40, or bring your own for $20.
Poly, multi, or synthetic gut: which should I get?
Polyester: most spin and control, for hard hitters who break strings, but stiffer and loses tension faster. Multifilament: softer, more power, easier on the arm. Synthetic gut: the all-round budget choice. Elbow or shoulder pain? Skip full poly.
How do I know my racket needs restringing?
Strings stay out of line instead of snapping back, the racket feels dead or launches balls long, you can see notches where the strings cross, or it has been over a year. Poly goes dead long before it breaks.
Which courts and clubs do you pick up from?
Anywhere along 101 or 280 between San Francisco and Santa Clara: Golden Gate Park and Dolores Park in SF, Washington Park in Burlingame, Central Park in San Mateo, Burton Park in San Carlos, Red Morton in Redwood City, Burgess Park in Menlo Park, Rinconada and Mitchell Park in Palo Alto, Cuesta Park in Mountain View, Las Palmas in Sunnyvale, Central Park in Santa Clara. Home, office, or your club’s front desk also works.
